The St. Paul Book Corner is proud to provide a newly-published book by a familiar author and a congregational friend.
Pastor Peter Marty’s book, The Anatomy of Grace is new this fall from the ELCA publishing house, Augsburg Fortress.
As a congregation, we’re the regular beneficiaries of Pastor Marty’s lively prose and creative insight. The book’s 52 reflections, many based on previously-published Journey newsletter columns, come from a pastoral heart grounded in God’s grace.
The Augsburg publishing house calls the book “a treatise on living the Christian life well and a stirring reminder why congregational life matters so significantly.”
Copies of The Anatomy of Grace are priced, like all Book Corner books, below retail and without tax.
The Book Corner expects a fresh shipment of books from the publisher’s second printing later in October.
Here’s what people are saying about The Anatomy of Grace:
“’Grace is everywhere’” is the final sentence of one of my favorite novels. But ‘everywhere’ is too bland for Peter Marty. He gives us 52 accurately focused verbal photographs of this everywhere present, but often missed glory of God in generous action. Think of The Anatomy of Grace as an illustrated guidebook for gracewatchers.”

“Peter Marty, who is both a wise pastor and a master teacher, takes the powerful idea of grace and turns it like a diamond in the light, allowing each facet to flash with brilliance. We learn much in this book, and what we learn is deeply moving.”

"...Jesus reduced the mark of a Christian to one word: 'By this all will know you are my disciples,' he said: 'if you LOVE one another.' The most subversive act the church can take is consistently to obey that command." ~Philip Yancey
