Church communications form the basis for Mary’s ministry. She brings a background in journalism to St. Paul’s newsletter The Journey and other publications, radio broadcasts, and the website. You’ll recognize Mary by the camera draped around her neck. She loves to welcome those who are new. She also connects with the Book Corner Team and stewardship ministries.
Mary and her husband Gerry Gjerde, an ELCA pastor serving in Maquoketa, live in DeWitt. Their blended family includes four adult children.

Joel has a passion for connecting people with their faith and exploring the mystery of God. He’s responsible for nurturing adults in a meaningful and Christ-Centered life — through classes, ministries, and small groups. He also connects with ministries and staff for children, middle school and high school youth.
A registered nurse by education, Joel is involved in St. Paul’s contemporary music and loves hands-on serving — most recently Habitat for Humanity and Gulf Coast rebuilding.

Tammy brings organizational leadership and warm hospitality to the Pastoral Residency Program. She works closely with the three pastoral residents, a support network, and the congregation to provide a rewarding experience for all.
A physical therapist by training, Tammy and her husband Mark, a Bettendorf physician, are the parents of an adult daughter Katie.
