Early enthusiasm

An eager team of St. Paul people is laying the foundations for a new partnership with neighborhood schools.

By early 2009, St. Paul volunteers will be invited to step into a range of opportunities with local kids. But even as plans take shape, enthusiasm for this initiative is bearing early fruit.

  • Madison Fun Night: In September, 25 plates of baked goods, 16 large bottles of pop, and eight volunteers helped shape a great family night.
  • Parent conferences: Supper was provided for teachers at Madison and J.B. Young Schools on Tuesday, Oct. 7.
  • Madison Bonfire: Be part of the support for this fall family fun on Thursday, Oct. 23. Set-up begins at 4 p.m. for the 5-6:30 p.m. event. Ten volunteers are needed for set-up and activity centers: face-painting, pumpkin-painting, piƱatas, and food. Sign up at the Information Center starting Oct. 12, or contact: Sue Grove,
