Bread for the World

Advocating for the World’s hungry people

Bread for the World is a collective Christian voice urging our nation’s decision-makers to end hunger at home and abroad. St. Paul is a Bread for the World congregation. By changing policies, programs, and conditions that allow hunger and poverty to persist, BFW provides help and opportunity far beyond the communities in which we live.

St. Paul congregation lifts up Bread for the World’s 2008 Offering of Letters, advocating for more and better poverty-focused development assistance. The hope is to meet the Millennium Development Goals adopted by the nations of the world in 2000 to improve the quality of life of hundreds of millions of poor people around the world. All nations promised to fulfill these goals by 2015.

Bread for the World is urging us to write letters to decision-makers in Congress, asking that funds be allocated for programs in the U.S. budget that give people in poor countries the skills and opportunities to break the cycle of poverty permanently. These programs include long-term investments in education, agriculture, nutrition, health and clean water.
