You live in an “envelope.” Well, that’s what energy-providers call it. The envelope consists of the walls, windows, doors, foundation, floor, roof, and skylights in your home.
At St. Paul, we now know about envelopes because of the report our congregation recently received following an energy audit with MidAmerican Energy.
This audit was conducted at the request of EarthCARE, our ministry concerned with the health of the planet. The report details ways energy within the St. Paul envelope (excluding new construction) can be used more efficiently.
St. Paul’s EarthCARE mission hopes that individual households might also consider this eye-opening energy audit process — for the sake of economy and responsible use of earth’s resources.
In our homes, we can make simple changes for the earth, and save some money as well. In our church home, we are saving energy with updated fluorescent light bulbs, programmable thermostats, weather treatments for windows, occupancy sensors, and the use of ceiling fans.
