Advocating for the needs of others

Advocacy

Advocacy is a public witness, articulating positions that are consistent with our faith.

You can lend your voices — loud and strong — to stand with the poor and the powerless. The advocacy work of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is one way we act with love for our neighbor around the corner or across the globe.

St. Paul is a member of Bread for the World, a Christian organization that advocates for the sake of hungry people around the world.

We also support the ONE Campaign, advocating for significant increases in federal funding to fight extreme poverty and AIDS.

Peacemaking

Peacemaking is a core commitment for Christian people. We are called to be witnesses to peace, justice, and love. As a congregation, we advocate for public policies that make the world safer, more democratic, and more humane.

Hope and new life for refugees

Since 1939, Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service has been welcoming the stranger, bringing new hope and new life to refugees and other vulnerable immigrants as they put down roots in America.

"Faith is a way of looking at what is seen and understanding it in a new sense." ~Frederick Buechner
