A St. Paul gardening crew, equipped with rakes and spades, transformed a corner of the Madison School playground into a beautiful butterfly garden on June 28.
Here kids will grow in appreciation of natural beauty, learn to identify plants, and know that people care about them.
Materials for the butterfly garden phase of the project are provided through a grant from St. Paul’s Endowment Fund for Mission Outreach. St. Paul people provided the muscle and heart. It’s part of a deepening St. Paul commitment to central-city needs.

In the center of Davenport, St. Paul and Madison Elementary School share a friendship that blossoms in many ways.
“Grandparent” volunteers spend one-on-one time listening to kids read. School and church join together in musical programs. Kids board a school bus for a spring outing to Camp Shalom.
One Madison child wrote a crayoned card: “Thank you for making our school look great! (It really does.) Now everybody who passes it will think, ‘Wow!’”

In the block just south of St. Paul, the house at 2025 Main St. is home to several women with long-term mental illness. The congregation maintains the house and yard, and looks for other ways to support the residents. The ministry, in partnership with Vera French Housing Corporation, reaches out beautifully with the love and peace of Jesus Christ.
