The fun of serving

Grades 7-8

Confirmation Ministry

St. Paul’s confirmation ministry is a wildly popular experience that gets to the very heart of where middle-schoolers live. It’s a creative, spirit-enlivened venture into the life of faith, relying on the care and attention of one caring Christian mentor for every carload of kids.

Learning and fun

The two-year confirmation experience for grades seven and eight is built on learning, serving, and Christian community. With a spirit that declares “it’s a sin to bore a kid,” the focus is on the great biblical stories of God’s grace, forgiveness, and love.

Sunday evenings

At the heart of this program are Confirmation Sunday Nights, generally held twice each month from September through May, 5-6:30 p.m.

Large-group presentations set a tone of fun and anticipation, then our pastoral residents step in to teach. Small-group huddles follow, led by a committed corps of volunteer sponsors who help bond youth in trusting relationships. In these groups, each person is accepted, heard, prayed for, and loved.

Retreats

Camp Shalom is the place for confirmation retreats: in the fall for seventh-graders and the spring for eighth-graders.

Worship

Regular worship is the key to lifelong habits of faithfulness. Confirmation youth are asked to worship each weekend. Youth are heartily encouraged to participate as acolytes in worship.

PACT on Sunday mornings

On Sunday mornings, 10:45-11:30 a.m., youth in grades seven and eight gather in the PACT Zone. It’s the place to “praise and adore Christ together,” right next to the high school Youth Room on the lower level.

"Peace is not merely a distant goal that we seek, but a means by which we arrive at that goal. We must pursue peaceful ends through peaceful means." ~Martin Luther King, Jr.
