Learning about the Bible

Grades 3-6

Welcome to Faith Trek

Faith Trek is creative commotion for grades 3-6 on the lower level of the education wing each Sunday morning, 10:45-11:30 a.m. God’s Word provides the compass for this faith journey.

In Faith Trek, you can stretch out in the twinkling Star Theatre with popcorn and movies. Bring your dramatic flair to the Parable Playhouse. Take the plunge into an underwater wonderland called Seaside Studio for artistic expressions in the faith. Get inspired at Creation Station and the Temple.

‘Spark’ curriculum

Our curriculum for children, age 2 through grade 6, is called Spark with interactive activities, colorful leaflets, creative art projects, and engaging music. It’s all about encountering God’s Word in the pages of scripture.

Kids in grades 3-6 receive the Spark Bible as a gift from the congregation.

Third-graders receive Bibles

Third-graders use their own Bibles in focused ways during the third-grade year. This gift from the congregation is part of our commitment to help parents fulfill the promises made at the baptism of their children.

In Sunday classes, they’ll discover the Bible’s great value and learn how to use it to find scripture passages and stories. The Bibles will be kept at church until Sunday, Nov. 22, when the Bibles will be blessed and presented to third-graders during the 11:45 worship service.

First Communion for fourth-graders

Fourth-graders and their parents are invited to participate in First Communion instruction on four Sunday mornings during the learning time in the Season of Lent, 10:45-11:30 a.m. First Communion is received at the Maundy Thursday service each year.

Sixth-graders

Lock-in: The move from elementary years into middle school is loaded with change for kids and families. An overnight lock-in for sixth-graders adds faith and hope to their journey.

Luther: Sixth-graders take a detour from Faith Trek in January each year, traveling to the 1500s and the Wittenburg Castle. This pre-confirmation curriculum focuses on Martin Luther and Lutheran theology.

Choir

Singers in grades 3-6 are invited to be part of the Cantate Choir. All rehearsals are on Wednesdays.

Summertime

Grades 3 and 4 are welcome to be part of Vacation Bible Experience each summer. Grades 5 & 6 are invited to be helpers.
